Calm and Connect: a series of parent and carer workshops offered by the Treehouse Practice multi-disciplinary team

Many parents speak to us during assessments about challenges in supporting their children’s emotional, behavioural and sensory regulation and we are responding to this support need. There will be a series of 4 workshops run online on the following dates available for you to attend, learn some new approaches and bring your queries to the Treehouse Practice psychology, speech and language and occupational therapy teams:
April 4th 10am-11am
April 11th 10am-11am
April 25th 10am-11am
May 2nd 10am-11am

These will be offered by Dr Rebecca Quin, Principal Specialist Clinical Psychologist, Dr Caroline Traynor, Senior Clinical Psychologist, Geraldine Brosnan, Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Dr Síomha Walsh Garcia, Occupational Therapist and Méabh Phelan, Assistant Psychologist.

Treehouse Practice is a specialised, team-based service for young people aged 0-25 years who have experienced trauma and adversity in their lives, and the adults who support them.

We believe that all children and young people need to feel loved, safe, seen and supported in their relationships and that this is the basis of recovery from trauma. We understand the impact of trauma on childhood development and we support other adults in young people’s lives to become more trauma aware too.

Each year, Care Day falls in February. This year

Each year, Care Day falls in February. This year it falls on 21st February 2025. This is the national day for celebrating the positive experiences and contributions of children and young people who are care experienced. Treehouse Practice are proud to support this day. Our friends at @epicempoweringpeopleincare and Youth Council members develop a Care Day theme each year. For their Care Day 2025 celebration, they have chosen, “Voices from care, ripples of change!”.

As part of the professional training course in Developmental Trauma, Treehouse Practice clinicians have developed a range of professional guides which are available to attendees. In module 1 the focus was on a practical guide to trauma-sensitive history taking. Module 2 involved an integrated formulation. Module 3 involves sensory based environmental supports and considerations.
